Well Bucks fans, it’s another day, another Nike jersey reveal for the Milwaukee Bucks, and this one is the best one yet. The Bucks have just revealed their new Nike Statement Edition jersey, and this Bucks writer, for one, is sure to snatch one up. Now, remember, gone are the days of Home and Away jerseys, so we really don’t know how often we’ll get to see these jerseys. If we’re lucky, though, it’ll be more than a handful of times.
Now, these are not only in stark contrast to the first three jerseys unveiled by the Bucks (the Association and Icon editions, followed by the Classic edition that not every team got), but they’re some of the best-looking black jerseys I’ve ever seen.
Look at the way the basketball pops on those shorts. The perfect complementary blue on the very edge of both the top and the shorts. The nearly-invisible “FEAR THE DEER” printed over the tag on the bottom right of the jersey top. Did I forget to mention the strip on the neck that highlights the Bucks’ 1971 NBA Championship? These jerseys are a statement indeed.
Can’t you just imagine the Bucks wearing these the next time the Cavs or Warriors come into town? In fact, every big home game can be a blackout, since the home team now will choose which jersey they want to wear with the away team wearing a contrasting color. The Bucks can also wear these whenever they’re on a road trip and the home team chooses to wear their whites. The point is, every time the Bucks step on the court wearing these Statement Edition jerseys, the opposing team is going to be intimidated and the fans are going to reach into their wallets.
Anyways, we still have two more new Nike Bucks jerseys coming, an “Inspired By The Athlete’s Mindset” edition that could still come out before the season starts (although it’s possible that the Statement edition is the “Inspired By The Athlete’s Mindset” edition, since the Statement edition was not previously announced), and an “Inspired By The Community” edition that is expected to come out in the middle of the season. It’s hard to believe that either of those will top this one, since I think this might end up being one of the best new Nike jerseys in the entire league. Still, every jersey edition we’ve seen so far has been excellent, so I have no reason to believe that the last two reveals won’t live up to the hype as well.
The Bucks open their season against the Boston Celtics on October 18th.
