Bucks Preview: Game 7 vs Mavericks

The Bucks take on the unlucky Mavericks tonight as they try to continue their red-hot start to the season and make it four in a row.

Dallas Mavericks (0-5)

  • 42-40 last season, lost in first round of playoffs
  • 31-38 against Bucks all-time
  • Greatest player of all time drafted by Bucks

Offensive Key

The Bucks are shooting 39% from beyond the arc in this 3-game winning streak of theirs, and they’ve shot 43% from distance in their last two games, both of which were blowouts. Though I believed these Bucks were not a 3-point shooting team at the start of the season (and that they didn’t need to be), it’s clear that good things have happened for Milwaukee when they shoot well from long-range. Although Mirza Teletovic won’t need to hit his first five 3s every game (like he did against the Kings), he will lead the charge on this front for the Bucks, along with Rashad Vaughn and Matthew Dellavedova.

Defensive Key

Devin Harris and Dirk Nowitzki will not play tonight and it’s looking like Deron Williams might not either. This means that the Bucks will have to focus on stopping Harrison Barnes, J.J. Barea and Wes Matthews. Speaking of 3-point shooting, Barea is 46% from distance so far this season, so if Milwaukee can get out to another early lead and shut down Barea’s long-range shooting, they might be able to knock the Mavs out of this game pretty early and make sure Dallas starts the season 0-6.

Tune in at 6:00 PM CT to see if the Bucks can start the season 5-2 and put themselves in an early position to make the playoffs!
