Bucks Preview: Game 8 vs Pelicans

Well, after a long rest the Bucks are back in action tonight against the still-winless Pelicans.

New Orleans Pelicans (0-8)

  • 30-52 last season
  • 23-9 against Bucks all-time
  • First team to completely waste the talents of an NBA player whose first name is Anthony

Offensive Key

Last time out against the Pelicans, the Bucks kicked off a 3-game winning streak thanks to a great performance including double-figure scoring from Giannis Antetokounmpo, of course. It wasn’t just him, though, as Tony Snell, Jabari Parker, Matthew Dellavedova, Malcolm Brogdon and Michael Beasley all chipped in more than 10 points themselves. Bucks fans have come to expect great things from Giannis, but it’ll take some more unexpected offensive surges from people like Michael Beasley and Tony Snell again to send the Pelicans home with their 9th-straight loss to open the season.

Defensive Key

As the league has learned fairly quickly, it’s nearly impossible to stop Anthony Davis. The Bucks would be wasting their time trying to stop Davis, and if they focused all their efforts on him maybe they’d limit him to about 30 points and 15 rebounds. The reason the last Bucks-Pelicans contest was as close as it was (117-113) is because Tim Frazier, Solomon Hill and E’Twaun Moore combined for 55 points to go along with Davis’s 35. If the Bucks can stop New Orleans’s supporting cast from having itself another big night, the Bucks should not only win but do so in a more boring (read: better) manner.

Tune in at 7:00 PM CT to see the Bucks go for their 5th win in the first 8 games!
