Bucks Preview: Game 4 vs Pelicans

After dropping their first road game of the season, the Bucks head to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans. New Orleans is winless so far this season, but the absolutely monster numbers being put up by Anthony Davis should give any Bucks fan pause before chalking this game up as a win.

New Orleans Pelicans (0-3)

  • 30-52 last season
  • 23-8 against Bucks all-time
  • Only team in history to have been named the Hornets but never the Bobcats

Offensive Key

This may sound obvious, but the Bucks need to shoot well to win tonight. In their two losses, they’ve shot 42% and 39% from the field, compared to 47% in their win. The gap is more drastic when it comes to 3-point shooting: The Bucks shot 36% from distance (paced by Rashad Vaughn’s outstanding outing) in their win against the Nets compared to 19% and 24% in their two losses so far this season. I still don’t like seeing the Bucks jack up 3-pointers, but if they must, they might as well actually make them.

Defensive Key

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Anthony Davis has had a mind-blowing start to this season, averaging 38 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. So far it has seemed impossible for teams to stop The Brow, yet each team that’s played the Pelicans has come away with a win. The Bucks can do the same if they don’t let any of the other Pelicans do any damage. The Bucks can let Anthony Davis score 50 points again, but if they keep the rest of his team to less than 50 combined they can still come out of tonight with a win.

Tune in at 7:00 PM CT tonight on League Pass (it’s the last night of the free trial!) to see if the Bucks can get back to .500 in this young season!
